NectarBee® Sugar Scrub: Sweet Skin Relief

NectarBee’s Soothe Line features a 5:1 THC/CBD ratio and essential oils like sweet marjoram, lavender, and frankincense.

Skin. The largest organ of the body, and the most visible. Most of us don’t pay nearly enough attention to keeping it healthy, but it’s never too late to start. My new skincare obsession is NectarBee® Sugar Scrub, sold exclusively at The Green Solution®. Two varieties are available: Soothe (think indica), and Rejuve (think sativa). I love both, but for this blog, I’ve focused on the Soothe variety.

You’ve probably used, or at least heard of, sugar scrub. It’s basically a concoction of oil and sugar to which essential oils are sometimes added. Why sugar? It’s a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that encourages cell turnover and exfoliates the skin, leaving it softer and fresher. But NectarBee Sugar Scrub is so much more than your average sugar scrub.

First, NectarBee only uses brown sugar for their scrub. Brown sugar is softer than granulated sugar, so can generally be used on sensitive skin. They also use a blend of safflower, sunflower, and apricot oil – all known to be beneficial to skin. Then there’s the wonderfully fragrant blend of essential oils. Lavender, marjoram, and frankincense combine for a scent experience that’s more fresh and clean than flowery. Extract of Benzoin is added for its anti-inflammatory effects.

And then there’s the THC/CBD hash oil. Each jar contains 250 mg of THC and 50 mg of CBD gleaned from The Green Solution’s award-winning flower. Because the sugar scrub is applied topically, it doesn’t penetrate into the bloodstream, thus the effect is not psychoactive – meaning it won’t make you high. But it will act as an anti-inflammatory with antioxidant and anti-aging properties, all good things for your skin.

Those are the facts. Now let me give you the run-down on how I use it and how it feels.

The first thing I do is stir the scrub (I just use my finger) because the oil and the sugar separate in the jar. While I’m stirring, my senses are inundated with the fresh aroma of the scrub. This is the moment when I breathe deeply and begin to relax. This is the beginning of the sugar scrub experience.

Next, I take a hot shower or bath to soften my skin and open my pores. Then I sit down on the edge of the tub, take a dollop of sugar scrub out of the jar, and begin to massage it into my skin from shoulders to feet. The longer I leave the scrub on my skin, the better the effects. I spend extra time on sore areas – for me, that’s usually my shoulders and feet. Before long, my skin begins to feel warm and tingly, and that’s when I know it’s working. Once I’ve completely massaged the scrub into my skin and let it soak in a bit, I turn on the shower and rinse the excess scrub off. The result is luxuriously soft skin and a softly tingling sensation on the surface of my skin. I honestly never feel better than when I’ve just finished my NectarBee Sugar Scrub routine.
