The Green Solution
Who: Team TGS (The Green Solution’s employee volunteer team)
What: A care package donation drive! TGS retail locations are collecting care packages that can be sent to our military troops overseas or to veterans here in the states. Care packages should include small, thoughtful items that will brighten a soldier’s day. We encourage hand-written letters, unopened pre-packaged snacks (like beef jerky, hard candy, or dried fruit), and other fun accessories (movies, puzzle books, etc.). Whatever you think would bring a soldier some joy while he or she is serving our country! Check out this list if you need more ideas. Sorry, no infused products please.
When: The Operation Care Package drive will begin February 1st and last until April 20th, giving Team TGS enough time to get the packages shipped out for Armed Forces Day on May 20th.
Where: All TGS Retail Locations (except for Trinidad for proximity reasons, sorry!)
Why: There are innumerable reasons to do good in the world, but Team TGS is working on Operation Care Package now because of our own company’s involvement with the military. Two of our company owners have served in the military themselves, and all four wish to honor the impending Armed Forces Day.

Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense.”
How: Put together an assortment of desired “wishlist” items and drop them off with your TGS retail associate or directly in the donation box at each location.
Team TGS’s mission is to give back to the communities we serve, and what better way to accomplish this goal than to give back to those serving to protect our liberties and freedom?

Team TGS is the community service brain-child of Nancy Schmidt, Business Administrator with TGS Management, the corporate support offices for The Green Solution. Her assembly of volunteers is as diverse as the company itself, with employees from all divisions: retail, cultivation, manufacturing, processing, distribution, security, and corporate. The team puts their heads together monthly to scheme and plan the best opportunities to give back to the communities that give so much to our company. The team’s goal is to nurture the existing business relationship between our company and the communities we serve by giving back through various programs and events.
So far, the team has completed two hugely successful events: the Aids Walk Colorado in August of 2016, and a dinner service for the Denver Rescue Mission in January of 2017. Their latest project has been the Valentine’s for Vets initiative, slated for completion in February 2017 as well as a donation drive called “Operation Care Package” to collect items for overseas military troops. (Team TGS holds a special place in its heart for military events, as two of the four owners of the company have served in our armed forces, and the other two have always staunchly supported their brothers.)
Team TGS believes that to prove our firm standing as a leading local brand, we must show our devotion and loyalty to those who regularly frequent our stores and occupy the same spaces as our retail neighbors. While Team TGS has only a few events under their belt so far, the possibilities for expansion into each region of our stores is endless.
Schmidt hopes that the volunteer team will inspire others to contribute to their communities as well. For now though, she is working hard to continue building a community of volunteers and seeking to expand opportunities for Team TGS and The Green Solution.
