The month of May is National Military Appreciation month, and that has us at The Green Solution® reflecting on the sacrifices servicemembers make for us every day.
Although more study is needed to determine if and how cannabis can assist veterans dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anecdotal evidence suggests it may relieve some of the disorder’s symptoms. In late 2014, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) received a $2.15 million grant from the state of Colorado to conduct a study on how cannabis affects veterans suffering from PTSD. Martin Lee is an affiliate of MAPS and director of its Project CBD.
Lee wrote, “Researchers found that people with PTSD had lower levels of anandamide, an endogenous cannabinoid compound, compared to those who did not show signs of PTSD…innate to all mammals, anandamide (our inner cannabis, so to speak) triggers the same receptors that are activated by THC and other components of the marijuana plant.” Lee is among the millions who are hopeful that advances in science will help alleviate this tragic affliction facing so many of our veterans.
At TGS, we care about the women and men who serve in our armed forces. That’s why we organized Operation Care Package, a donation drive that collected 56 boxes of goods to be delivered to troops stationed overseas and stateside on Armed Services Day (May 20). Also, we’re proud to offer a 10% discount to patrons with military ID cards every day. And on military holidays, TGS triples that discount and offers 30% off to patrons with military ID.
The Green Solution is grateful for the continual sacrifices made by servicemembers, and we offer these discounts as a way to show them our sincere and heartfelt thanks.
